CIRCA TRADE began in India in 1998 with pieces from my travels across South East Asia, Sri Lanka and to India's far corners: Lao fishing baskets, ikats from Cambodia, a rosewood campaign chair...

During the in-between years, lots changed (I moved back to New York, re-started the store in Hudson NY) but my collecting ethos (spirit?) hasn’t really. I’m a braver purchaser perhaps, and a mostly better-versed and wiser one, but I am still in search of beautiful forms, faces and spirits and pieces with an inherent integrity – whatever on earth that might mean.

There's little room in the densely-stocked retail and on-line spaces we move through, and the babble of judgments we heed, to exercise personal taste and go with gut. I would like Circa’s collection – offerings of my personal choices – to motivate you to observe with all senses.
