Suzanis: dowry hangings from Uzbekistan.

(suzani from سوزنکاری Suzankāri - Persian for the "art of stitching".)

I have heard one story:
When a girl is born, her mother begins stitching her suzani.
When the girl comes of (stitching) age, she assumes the work.
And so is a dowry made.
